Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make decoding delay be less than one frame, to perform decoding in a line terminating device even when an existing section terminating device is interposed and to provide correction ability even for burst errors.
SOLUTION: A transmission frame for one cycle is divided into two areas A1 and B2 by the ratio of N to (9-N) (N is the integer of 5 or 8) and encoding is independently performed to the divided respective areas. Respective codes are Reed Solomon codes and divided so as to turn the end to the undefined byte of a line overhead 11. The inspection bits 20 and 21 of the codes are stored in the undefined byte of the line overhead which is the end of the code.
