Abstract:
To provide a cooling tower capable of optimizing the structure and arrangement of a filling material to promote uniform arrival of circulating water to each part of the filling material, thereby improving efficiency of heat exchange between circulating water and air.SOLUTION: Filling materials 21, 22, 23 and 24 formed by laminating filling material sheets are laminated vertically in a plurality of stages in an arrangement that allows air and water to pass through in a vertical direction, the filling materials 21, 22, 23 and 24 are laminated with different lamination directions by 90° for each stage, and a direction in which circulating water spreads horizontally and flows between the filling material sheets is changed by 90° for each stage of the filling materials, so that the circulating water flowing down the filling materials 21, 22, 23 and 24 is made to flow down over the entire area of the filling materials without biasing a reaching range of the filling materials, and a frequency of contact between air and water in the filling materials 21, 22, 23 and 24 is increased to enable efficient heat exchange.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
