Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert and a cutting tool reducing flaws on a processing surface by chips.SOLUTION: A cutting insert in this invention has a first end face 2 having a nearly polygonal shape, a second end face 3, a peripheral side face 4 and at least one cutting edge 5. The cutting edge has a first cutting edges 5a and a second cutting edge 5b in order from a position near a first corner part 6a of the first end face. The cross ridge line part of the first end face and the peripheral side face has a lateral ridge line part 7 connecting to the first corner part at the opposite side to the first cutting edge. An angle A between the first cutting edge and the lateral ridge line part is larger than an angle B between the second cutting edge and the lateral ridge line part in plan view. The first end face has a portion of the lateral ridge line part separate from the second end face side in at least one cut section orthogonal to the lateral ridge line part in plan view and also crossing the cutting edge.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
