Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direction indication device which operates a screen of a computer through a head or horizontal/vertical motion of eyes of a user, and a direction indication method.SOLUTION: A direction indication device comprises: a camera (imaging means) 3 for capturing an image of a face area of an operator; first coordinate system setting means 5 and second coordinate system setting means 6 for setting a first coordinate system of the face area imaged by the imaging means and a second coordinate system of an eye area in the face area; first delay means 7 and second delay means 8 for, in association with the movement of the eye area, delay-processing an original point coordinate of the second coordinate system moving while delaying following that, and for obtaining third and fourth coordinate systems different in delay time; first calculation means 9 and second calculation means 10 for calculating a movement amount and movement speed of an iris center in the third and fourth coordinate systems; discrimination means 11 for performing operation discrimination based on distance between original points of the third and fourth coordinate systems; and first to fourth determination means 12, 13, 14 and 15 for determining a horizontal direction or a vertical direction by a head or an eyeball on the basis of a signal from the discrimination means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
