Abstract:
The present invention provides an electric circuit breaker having a rapid disconnection capability over a wide range of current regions that extends to relatively low currents as well as relatively high currents. An electric circuit breaker 600 provided with: a housing 300; a part 400 to be disconnected, disposed in the housing 300 and constituting a part of an electric circuit; a first power source P disposed on a first end 320 side of the housing 300; and, a moving body 500 that moves in the housing 300 between the first end 320 and a second end 330 on the opposite side of the first end 320. The electric circuit breaker 600 is characterized in that: a fuse functional unit 700 provided with a fusing part 740 and an arc-extinguishing material 730 is provided; a portion of the moving body 500 disconnects a disconnection piece 420 positioned between base pieces 430 provided on both sides of the part 400 to be disconnected while the moving body 500 is moved from the first end 320 toward the second end 330 by the first power source P; and, when the current to be cut off is low, the fuse functional unit 700 and the part 400 to be disconnected are not connected and the moving body 500 is moved toward the second end 330 by the first power source P to disconnect the disconnection piece 420 positioned between the base pieces 430 provided on both sides of the part 400 to be disconnected, thereby cutting off the base pieces 430 on both sides of the part 400 to be disconnected from being energized, and, when the current to be cut off is high, the fuse functional unit 700 and the part 400 to be disconnected are connected and the moving body 500 is moved toward the second end 330 by the first power source P to disconnect the disconnection piece 420 positioned between the base pieces 430 provided on both sides of the part 400 to be disconnected, thereby cutting off the base pieces 430 on both sides of the part 400 to be disconnected from being energized.
