Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of electrolyzing carbon dioxide gas into carbon monoxide gas and oxygen gas with high conversion efficiency.SOLUTION: A method of electrolyzing carbon dioxide gas into carbon monoxide gas and oxide gas uses a laminate in which a catalyst layer 11 for the anode is laminated on one side of a solid electrolyte layer 12 composed of a perovskite type oxide and a catalyst layer 13 for the cathode containing at least nickel oxide is laminated on the other side of the solid electrolyte layer 12 opposite to the catalyst layer 11 for the anode and applies a voltage to between the catalyst layer 11 for the anode and the catalyst layer 13 for the cathode so as to electrolyze carbon dioxide gas into carbon monoxide gas and oxygen gas. A gas containing at least carbon dioxide gas is supplied to the surface of the catalyst layer 13 for the cathode to convert carbon dioxide gas into carbon monoxide gas and oxide ion, and the resultant oxide ion is diffused into the solid electrolyte layer 12 so that oxygen gas is formed from the oxide ion at the anode.
