Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound having excellent antiretrovirus action, especially proliferation suppressing action on human immunodeficiency viruses, low toxicity and high safety as a medicine.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound has 1 to 7 units expressed by formula I (R1 is 18C alkyl, substituent group-containing lower alkyl or lower alkenyl) in 7 D-glucose units constituting β-cyclodextrin or its salt, e.g. Na salt of heptakis(2-O-benzyl)-β-cyclodextrin.polysulfate. The compound is obtained by reacting a β-cyclodextrin derivative composed of 1 to 7 units expressed by formula I in the D-glucose units constituting the β-cyclodextrin and the remainder of units expressed by formula II (R2 is hydroxyl group-protecting group) with a sulfonating agent (preferably sulfuric anhydride, etc.) preferably under heating conditions and then removing the hydroxyl group-protecting groups.
