Abstract:
To provide a honeycomb structure which consists of a plurality of honeycomb segments combined, and the whole of which can be efficiently heated.SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure consists of a plurality of honeycomb segments combined and having partition walls to section and form a number of cells, and has a first end face into which gas flows, and a second end face out of which the gas flow. Catalysts are supported on the respective honeycomb segments, and heating wires are arranged between the adjacent honeycomb segments. In the longitudinal direction, which is a direction where the cells extend, a range shorter than 80% of the length in the longitudinal direction of the honeycomb structure from the first end face of the honeycomb structure is a heating wire arrangement region where the heating wires are arranged. A range being at least 20% of the length in the longitudinal direction of the honeycomb structure from the second end face of the honeycomb structure is a heating wire non-arrangement region where the heating wires are not arranged.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
