Abstract:
To provide an image display device which is capable of displaying display images (virtual images) at different distances and, in particular, allows for viewing display images at different distances superimposed on each other with a wide view angle range from a sufficiently distant viewing position.SOLUTION: An image display device 100 comprises a display device 10, and a multifocal optical system 20 comprised of first and second optical systems having different power and configured by combining the two optical systems in such a way that optical axes of the two optical systems are offset from each other and that the first and second optical systems partially overlap with each other, the multifocal optical system 20 being configured to display virtual images of images displayed on the display device 10. The multifocal optical system 20 displays first and second virtual images corresponding to first and second images displayed by the first and second optical systems in such a way that the first and second virtual images are at least partially superimposed on each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
