Abstract:
To acquire use history information required for a consumable item memory having a limited memory capacity.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a main body memory, an apparatus body, a consumable item, and a control unit. The main body memory can store a plurality of pieces of identification information that can identify functions used by the image forming apparatus, and can store use history information representing the use history of the functions identified by the identification information in association with the identification information. The consumable item can be attached to the apparatus body and is for forming an image. The consumable item has a consumable item memory that has a first storage area for storing a part of the identification information of the plurality of pieces of identification information. In response to the functions being executed by the image forming apparatus, the control unit stores, in the main body memory, the use history information corresponding to the part of the identification information, and stores, in the first storage area, the use history information corresponding to the part of the identification information stored in the main body memory (S6).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
