Title:
An internal-combustion engine and a method for controlling the same
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP6036586
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine which improves thermal efficiency.SOLUTION: An engine 1 comprises: central electrodes 35 installed on a fuel injection valve 25; and wall surface electrodes 262 installed on an inner wall surface 261 of a cylinder liner section. The central electrodes 35 are subject to electrical potential different from the wall surface electrodes 262 so that an electric field is generated in directions shown by dashed-two dotted arrows F2 in a combustion chamber 22 when electric voltage is applied to the central electrodes 35 and the wall surface electrodes 262. In the combustion chamber 22, fuel forms a swirl flow in the direction shown by dashed-dotted arrows F1. When the electric field is generated in the direction from the wall surface electrodes 262 to the central electrodes 35 in a combustion process, a flame having a characteristic of positive electrode flows in the directions shown by dashed arrows F3 away from the internal wall surface 261. Thus, the engine 1 reduces a ratio of combustion heat of the flame externally emitted through a cylinder liner section to total combustion heat of the flame and thereby improving thermal efficiency.
