Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the disorder in information recording and regenerate a uniform image with a high resolution by laminating an information recording layer, in which a mixed liquid crystal of a nematic and a smectic liquid crystal and a resin are phase separated, on a transparent electrode.
CONSTITUTION: An information recording layer 11, in which a mixed liquid crystal of a nematic and a smectic liquid crystal in a wt. ratio of 5/95-20/80 and resin are phase-separated, is laminated on a transparent electrode 13 to prepare an information recording medium 3. The information recording medium 3 is arranged to face a photosensitive body in which a photoconductive layer is laminated on the transparent electrode. An image is exposed with voltage applied between an information recording medium electrode and a photosensitive body electrode. After the liquid crystal layer in the information recording layer 11 being oriented corresponding to an exposure pattern, the pattern is regenerated as visible information by transmitted or reflected light. The smectic liquid crystal in the information recording layer 11 includes cyanobiphenyl-based one having an end group with a long carbon chain.
