Abstract:
To provide an illumination device which can efficiently perform cooling of a terahertz light generation element and properly perform irradiation to a subject.SOLUTION: There is provided an illumination device including a plurality of pieces of light emission means which emits terahertz light. Each of the plurality of pieces of light emission means comprises: generation means which generates terahertz light; and support means which supports the generation means. An angle between the normal direction of the support means and the irradiation direction of the terahertz light emitted from the light emission means becomes larger as going toward the outer side of the illumination device in the direction vertical to the normal direction and the angle is the angle which faces the inner side of the illumination device. The support means of the plurality of pieces of light emission means is arranged so as to be arrayed in the direction vertical to the normal direction. The fluid for cooling the plurality of pieces of light emission means flows in the direction vertical to the normal direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1B
