Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase adjustment element that makes miniaturization possible, an optical signal input port structure using the same, and an optical logic circuit.SOLUTION: The phase adjustment element comprises: a rectangular interference waveguide region specified by width and length; an input-side waveguide, near one corner of the rectangle, for inputting an optical signal; and an output-side waveguide at a position symmetrical to the input-side waveguide out of the interference waveguide region. The optical signal input port structure has the phase adjustment element installed on an optical waveguide at an optical signal input port. The optical logic circuit comprises a multi-mode interferometer, two optical signal input ports through which an optical signal is inputted to the multi-mode interferometer, and two optical signal output ports for outputting an optical signal interfered by the multi-mode interferometer, the phases of input signals inputted from the two optical signal input ports being adjusted by the phase adjustment element so that they have a π/2 phase difference with each other, the two optical signal output ports being provided at positions where an optical signal is image-formed, of which one phase is 0 and the other phase is π.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
