Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance device and method achieving downsizing of the device and cost reduction by performing two-way sweeping of the discharge face of a liquid discharge head with simple constitution, and also to provide a liquid discharge device.SOLUTION: A maintenance device comprises: a first maintenance part (31) sweeping a liquid discharge head (16) by contacting a driven first sweeping member (40) to the discharge face (17) of the discharge head; a second maintenance part (32) sweeping the liquid discharge head by contacting a second sweeping member (41) driven in the direction reverse to the first sweeping member to the discharge face of the liquid discharge head; a moving part (36) relatively moving the liquid discharge head that is a sweeping object and the first or second maintenance part; and a switching part (39) performing the switch-over of the sweeping operations by the first and second maintenance parts by relatively moving the discharge head that is the sweeping object and the first and second maintenance parts in a changeover moving direction.
