Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide copper composite iron powder, regarding the production of copper composite iron powder obtained by covering the surface of iron powder with a copper component, excellent in the adhesion of the copper to the iron and free from segregation.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing copper composite iron powder obtained by mixing iron powder with zinc chloride and copper oxide powder with the average grain size of 20 μm or lower, performing heating and reducing the copper oxide with a reducing gas and sticking the copper to the surface of the iron powder, comprising: the first heat treatment where the zinc chloride is mixed by 0.2 to 1.5 wt% to the copper oxide powder, the copper oxide powder is mixed by 10 to 50 wt% expressed in terms of metal copper to the iron powder, and temperature is increased to 200 to 330°C to reduce the copper oxide; and the second heat treatment where firing is performed in the temperature range of 700 to 950°C. Preferably, tin powder of 0.4 to 1.5 wt% is mixed to the iron powder, and, further, bronze powder of 3 to 25 wt% is preferably mixed as well. Also provided is a method for producing a sintered metal by compacting the copper composite iron powder and performing sintering.SELECTED DRAWING: None
