Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an expandable polystyrene-based resin particle that can produce a polystyrene-based resin expansion molded article having an excellent fire retardant property and insulation property, having a high fusion-bonding percentage, and having an excellent appearance as well as that has a low residual monomer level and a small variation in particle size distribution.SOLUTION: A method for producing an expandable polystyrene-based resin particle comprising graphite and fire retardant, includes: mixing a polystyrene-based resin, graphite, and bromine-based fire retardant by kneading to produce a polystyrene-based resin seed particle and dispersing the same in an aqueous medium; then, impregnating a styrenic monomer into the polystyrene-based resin seed particle and polymerizing the same; and impregnating a physical blowing agent into the resin particle during or after the polymerization to produce an expandable polystyrene-based resin particle.
