PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator capable of reducing production cost significantly, relative to prior ones, while having high intensity.SOLUTION: A gas generator comprises: a long cylindrical housing body; and a plug 30A for closing an axial end of the housing body. The plug 30A is formed of an almost disk-shaped metal member, and comprises: an almost columnar trunk 31; a first flange part 33 positioned on a first end surface 30a side; and a second flange part 34 positioned on a second end surface 30b side. A peripheral surface 30c of the plug 30A has an annular groove part 32 regulated by the trunk 31, the first flange part 33 and the second flange part 34. A fiber flow MF of a part which is present on a surface layer of the peripheral surface 30c of the plug 30 containing a surface of the annular groove part 32 is not divided on the peripheral surface 30c, and continuously extends so as to reach from the first end surface 30a to the second end surface 30b through the peripheral surface 30c.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
