Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a marine invertebrate repellent comprising a marine alga extract and provides a repellent for marine invertebrates which comprises a compound occurring in nature. In one embodiment of the present invention, the marine alga is a red alga belonging to the genus Digenea. An extract of a red alga belonging to the genus Digenea exerts an excellent repellent effect on marine invertebrates belonging to the phylum Arthropoda. In another embodiment of the present invention, the marine alga is a brown alga belonging to the genus Dictyopteris. An extract of a brown alga belonging to the genus Dictyopteris exerts an excellent repellent effect on marine invertebrates belonging to the phylum Mollusca. Moreover, by combining an extract of a red alga belonging to the genus Digenea with an extract of a brown alga belonging to the genus Dictyopteris, a repellent spectrum over a broad scope can be achieved.
