Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sliding material capable of exhibiting excellent sliding property and abrasion resistance under sliding condition in dried state in which lubrication by fluid can not be expected. SOLUTION: Both of a hermetically sealed element 11 on stationary side and a hermetically sealed element 14 on rotation sliding under lubricating condition in dried state to the hermetically sealed element 11 in a mechanical seal 1 are composed of a sliding material obtained by applying a sliding film of a material obtained by compounding a solid lubricating material having self- lubricating properties with a binder to the surface of a substrate which operates as sliding surfaces 11a and 14a.
