A metal complex dye represented by the following formula (I), photoelectric conversion element, and dye-sensitized solar cell.
M(LD)(LA)·(Y) mY formula (I)
wherein, in formula (I), M represents Fe 2+ , Ru 2+ or Os 2+ ;
LD represents a tridentate ligand represented by the following formula (A);
LA represents a specific tridentate ligand wherein three cyclic coordinating groups different from LA are linked;
wherein, in formula (A), Ar 1 and Ar 2 each independently represent specific heterocyclic groups such as a benzene ring group or a triazole ring group or the like. Y represents a counter ion required for neutralizing an electric charge, and mY represents an integer of 0 to 2.
