PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a burden on a staff involved in monitoring whether or not a monitoring target exists within a monitoring range.SOLUTION: A monitoring system 100 is comprised of: wireless communication devices 102-1, 102-2, ...; and a monitoring apparatus 101 which can directly communicate wirelessly with the wireless communication devices 102-1, 102-2, ..., and monitor the wireless communication devices 102-1, 102-2, .... The wireless communication devices 102-1, 102-2, ... is comprised of transmission means for wirelessly transmitting identification information for identifying the wireless communication devices 102-1, 102-2, .... The monitoring apparatus 101 is comprised of: storage means for storing identification information of each of the wireless communication devices 102-1, 102-2, ...; reception means for receiving the identification information transmitted by the transmission means; and notifying means for performing notification processing when the identification information stored by the storage means includes identification information not received by the reception means, which notifies such a fact that the owner of the wireless communication device identified by the identification information is too far from the monitoring apparatus.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
