Abstract:
To provide a navigation system which can immediately change, while running, a route to head toward an off-route road which is set at a branch point ahead.SOLUTION: When having approached a branch point, an enlarged guidance map 210 that indicates the form of branching at the branch point and a direction in which a guidance route proceeds at the branch point is displayed. When a user's designation of a road off the guidance route on the display of the enlarged guidance map 210 is accepted (a), the guidance route is updated to a new guidance route to a destination passing through the designated road, and the proceeding direction of the guidance route indicated by the enlarged guidance map 210 is updated so as to agree with the updated guidance route (b). Then, when the branch point is passed through, the display of the enlarged guidance map 210 is erased (c).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
