Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module and a manufacturing method therefor capable of achieving a downsizing, a high workability, and a low cost while securing the adhesive strength of a PLC to a fiber block.SOLUTION: The optical module includes: an optical fiber 30; an optical fiber connection member 120 fixed to the optical fiber; a waveguide type optical element 110 whose end surface is bonded and fixed to the end surface of the optical fiber connection member and that has an optical waveguide on the top surface side of the substrate; and adhesion reinforcing plates 130 bonded on side surfaces of the optical fiber connection member and the waveguide type optical element. The bonding is performed so that the side surfaces of the optical fiber connection member and the waveguide type optical element are flush with each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
