Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device with redundantly more unit converters and a power conversion method which can output a stable voltage waveform even in the event of a unit converter failure in a simple configuration.SOLUTION: A power conversion device 102 includes a control device 109 for capturing AC voltages, arm currents, and capacitor voltages VCjk output by unit converters 108, and transferring gate signals GHjk, GLjk to each bidirectional chopper type unit converter 108 via a gate signal line 110. The control device 109 includes: failure detection sections 301 for detecting a failure in each unit converter and sending a failure signal number in each arm; short circuit operation instruction sections 302 for sequentially cyclically short-circuiting outputs of a number of unit converters of each arm corresponding to the failure signal number when receiving the failure signal number; and a pulse signal generation section 303 for generating pulse signals to operatively drive each unit converter.
