Abstract:
To provide a power converter that can improve reliability.SOLUTION: A power converter of an embodiment has a power conversion circuit, a first heat sink, a capacitor for smoothing, an initial charge circuit, a second heat sink, a first temperature sensor, and a control unit. To the first heat sink, a first component included in the power conversion circuit is thermally connected. The initial charge circuit performs initial charging of the capacitor before the start of operation of the power conversion circuit. To the second heat sink, a second component included in the initial charge circuit is thermally connected. The first temperature sensor detects the temperature of the second heat sink or the second component. The control unit monitors the state of a cooling device in a period from the start of the initial charging performed by the initial charge circuit until the start of operation of the power conversion circuit, based at least on a result of detection performed by the first temperature sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
