Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a rack bar supporting device wherein a rack guide is prevented from tilting to move.
CONSTITUTION: In a rack bar supporting device wherein a rack guide slidably built in the axial direction in a cylinder part 11a formed in a housing 11 is pressed toward a rack bar 15 by a spacer 23 and a spring 24, provided in a back part recessed spot of the rack guide, so as to slidably support the rack bar 15 in the axial direction of a rack, the rack guide is divided into two shapes 21A, 21B in almost the center in the direction of an axial line. Surfaces of the spacer 23 opposed to both the rack guides 21A, 21B are formed in a protrusive spherical surface S1, to also form receiving surfaces of both the rack guides 21A, 21B, with which this spacer 23 comes into contact, in a recessed spherical surface S2 with a radius of curvature larger than the protrusive spherical surface S1 of the spacer 23, and contact points of both the rack guides 21A, 21B with the spacer 23 can be changed in a relation to a point of action of reaction force acting on both the rack guides 21A, 21B from the rack bar 15.
