Abstract:
To provide a technique for improving a pulse width modulation (PWM) image sensor.SOLUTION: A PWM image sensor can include a laminated configuration. An upper wafer of the PWM image sensor can include a charge-to-time converter and a logic wafer laminated with the upper wafer, and can include a time-to-digital converter. The PWM image sensor may use a variable transfer function to avoid highlight compression and may use nonlinear time quantization. A threshold voltage as an input to an electric charge-to-time converter may be controlled so as to further affect light detection, dynamic range, and other features associated with the PWM image sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
