Abstract:
To provide a recording device, which can determine whether a recording medium stored in a medium cassette is a roll medium or a single-sheet medium and determine whether the roll medium is used up.SOLUTION: A paper feed cassette 2 has a support part 22 that supports a roll paper R from below, a roll paper detection sensor 26 that detects whether or not the roll paper R is supported by the support part 22, and a medium rear-end detection sensor 27 that detects presence or absence of a paper P at a detection position on a passage route of the paper P. A control part 8 determines whether the stored paper P is the roll paper R or a cut paper K, on the basis of an output signal from the roll paper detection sensor 26; and after determining that the roll paper R is stored, determines that the roll paper R is used up, when (1) the output signal from the roll paper detection sensor 26 is switched to a signal showing that the roll paper R is not supported and when (2) the output signal from the medium rear-end detection sensor 27 is switched from a signal showing presence of the paper P to a signal showing absence of the paper P, in the middle of feeding of the paper P by a paper feed part 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
