Abstract:
To provide a gear device that enables smooth operation of a gear type power transmission mechanism, prevention of environmental pollution due to leakage of a lubricating liquid, and prevention of fire, and that facilitates disposal of a used lubricating liquid.SOLUTION: A gear type speed reduction device 8 comprises: a housing 10; a parallel gear mechanism having first to eighth gears 15-22 each disposed in the housing 10 and engaged with each other; an input shaft 11 joined to the first gear 15; an output shaft 9 joined to the eighth gear 22; and a lubricating liquid supply device 30 that supplies an aqueous lubricating liquid to the parallel gear mechanism. The aqueous lubricating liquid contains water and sodium polyacrylate. An amount of sodium polyacrylate to water in the aqueous lubricating liquid is 1-5 mass%. A hydrogen index of the aqueous lubricating liquid is pH 7-pH 11 (preferably pH 8-pH 10).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
