To provide a photocatalytic body which photocatalytic particles strongly adhere over a long period of time without losing ability with extremely little degradation and deterioration of the binder caused by the photocatalytic particles.
A photocatalytic body keeps a first layer containing a persistent binder overlying a substrate, but no photocatalytic particles, and the first layer is costed or sprayed with a mixture of the persistent binder and the photocatalytic particles and dried at an ambient temperature of 200°C to provide a second layer. The volume of photocatalytic particles as a volume standard against a total amount of the photocatalytic particles and the persistent binder of the second layer is; (1) 5-40%, if the persistent binder is cement and/or gypsum, (2) 20-98%, if the persistent binder is not cement and/or gypsum.
