Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optional construct an operation environment capable of setting up a composite function while visually recognizing the sorts and functions of plural peripheral equipments and easily and efficiently executing data processing and setting based on the set contents. SOLUTION: System constitution is displayed on a CRT 16 on the basis of the function information, connection information and status of respective peripheral equipments acquired through a network, and when a user specifies an icon for a group of peripheral equipments to be required for composite function processing intended by the user by the operation of a mouse 13, a CPU 2 displays a picture setting up the combined function, displays instructed peripheral equipments and their functions by icons approximate to the external forms of these equipments on the set picture and controls the combined operation of respective corresponding peripheral equipments on the basis of the set contents of the set picture.
