Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which can reduce the possibility that an object is not detected in an area that the object detection sensor does not respond to an object, while reducing a cost.SOLUTION: The object detector includes an object detection sensor for receiving a reception wave, which is a reflected transmission wave, and a controller for controlling outputs of the object detection sensor. The controller controls the object detection sensor with a predetermined first control value when a driving device driving a vehicle is to be started. After the vehicle starts running, the controller controls outputs of the object detection sensor with a predetermined second control value instead of the first control value. If the object detection sensor is controlled with the first control value, the directivity of the object detection sensor is wider than when the object detection sensor is controlled with the second control value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
