PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation device that can facilitate replacement works of filters collecting dust occurring in fixation processing without leading to increase in size of devices, and to provide a suction unit to be used in the image formation device.SOLUTION: An image formation device has: a transfer unit that transfers a toner image to a recording medium; a fixation unit that thermally fixes the toner image of the recording medium; suction means that is provided with a duct having an opening part, and sucks air between the transfer unit and the fixation unit; filter means that is fixed on an upstream side of a suction channel of the duct, and filters dust from the air sucked by the suction means; opening/closing means that causes the opening part to open/close; and a control unit that controls opening/closing of the opening part in the opening/closing means. The control unit is capable of selecting a first mode allowing the air to be sucked into the duct to be passed to the filter means in a state with the opening part closed or a second mode allowing the air to be sucked into the duct to be passed to the opening part in a state with the opening part opened from a group including the first mode and the second mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5A
