Abstract:
To provide a thermal printer that is able to print at a predetermined printing speed according to a transfer speed of a long film under simple control.SOLUTION: A thermal printer comprises: a print head 21; a print receiving roller 4; a link mechanism unit 7 that adjusts a length of a transfer path for a long film F according to a speed difference between a transfer speed of the long film F and a peripheral speed of the print receiving roller 4 during rotation and that is capable of moving an upstream moving roller 61 and a downstream moving roller 62 to a reference position, a low-speed transfer position and a high-speed transfer position during printing: and a control unit 10 that controls, during non-printing, rotation of the print receiving roller 4 such that the upstream moving roller 61 and the downstream moving roller 62 are moved to the reference position and that rotates, during printing, the print receiving roller 4 at a predetermined speed while the upstream moving roller 61 and the downstream moving roller 62 can be moved to the low-speed transfer position or the high-speed transfer position from the reference position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
