Abstract:
PURPOSE: To avoid the bad influence caused by oxide and to stably cast a sound cast billet.
CONSTITUTION: In a vertical type continuous casting for metal, a bottom table 3 is arranged so as to close the lower part of a mold in the mold 1 opening at the upper and the lower parts, and the casting is started by supplying molten metal to the bottom table 3 and the bottom table 3 is lowered together with the solidified cast billet after supplying the molten metal 8 on the bottom table 3. At the time of starting the casting, the supply of the molten metal is once stopped, and after keeping the prescribed time, again the molten metal 8 is supplied to start the casting. This method is suitable as the continuous casting method for strong oxidizing metal, particularly Al-Li alloy.
