To provide a vehicle power assistance system capable of performing driving assist or regenerative braking, suppressing an increase in weight of a vehicle and preventing unintended braking force and the like from being generated from a motor generator.SOLUTION: A vehicle power assistance system includes: a DC power source 10; a motor generator 14 supported by a wheel bearing for supporting rotation of a wheel 5 to generate driving assist force or regenerative braking force; and a control device 39. The control device 39 includes: a power conversion circuit 12 for converting DC power into AC power; a control circuit 16 for controlling the power conversion circuit 12; and a phase open circuit 13 provided between the power conversion circuit 12 and the motor generator 14 and enabling switching between electric connection and shutoff. When an inductive voltage generated through rotation of the motor generator 14 exceeds a power supply voltage, the control circuit 16 electrically disconnects the motor generator 14 and the DC power source 10 from each other by the phase open circuit 13.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
