Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a chloroprene latex composition having excellent initial tack, especially, wet adhesive performances and a balance between it and heat resistance by specifying the polymerization temperature, the gel content of the chloroprene polymer, the weightaverage molecular weight of the sol, and the Na and K ion contents of the latex. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by polymerizing chloroprene or copolymerizing chloroprene with a monomer copolymerizable therewith at a temperature below 30 deg.C, contains at least one member selected from among rosin acid, sodium rosinate, and potassium rosinate and sodium hydroxide and/or potassium hydroxide, and has a content of Na ions in the chloroprene latex of 0.15-1.0 wt. based on the solids of the latex, and a content of K ions of 0.15-1.0 wt.% based on the solids of the latex. Further, the chloroprene polymer contains a gel content of 3-40 wt.%, and the weight-average molecular weight of the sol is at least 400,000.
