Abstract:
To provide a technology that can reduce energy necessary for water electrolysis in a water electrolysis system.SOLUTION: A water electrolysis system comprises: an electrolytic cell for producing oxygen and hydrogen by water electrolysis; a storage tank connected to the electrolytic cell, to which a produced gas including one of the oxygen and hydrogen produced by the electrolytic cell is supplied; a back-pressure valve connected to the storage tank; a water tank, which is connected to the electrolytic cell, for storing water to be supplied to the electrolytic cell; and a feed pump for supplying the pressurized water, which is obtained by pressurizing water in the water tank using the pressure of the produced gas stored in the storage tank, to the electrolytic cell. The back-pressure valve maintains the back pressure in the storage tank so that the pressure of the produced gas stored in the storage tank is equal to or greater than a pressure value previously arranged as a pressure that can supply water to the electrolytic cell using the feed pump.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
