Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subsequent pedal unit to be easily attached to/removed from a wheelchair and automatically directs a steering wheel in a forward direction without holding a steering handle in a straight advancing direction.SOLUTION: A pedal unit 10 includes: a main frame 26; belts 12, 14 fitted to a rear end part and a front part of the main frame; a driving wheel 28 fitted to the rear end part of the main frame; a pair of front wheels 40, 42 fitted to the front part of the main frame; a pair of pedals 36 freely rotatably fitted to the main frame by a rotary shaft 34 extending horizontally nearer to an end side than the front wheels in the main frame; transmission means 30, 32, 48 driving the driving wheel by rotating the pedals along the rotation shaft; and a steering shaft 44 rotating one of the pair of front wheels around a vertical axis line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
