Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic sensor capable of specifying the width of a track accurately, having high sensitivity in addition with less Barkhausen noise, and excellent in reliability.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic sensor has a pair of hard magnetic films 23, 23 in-plane-magnetized in directions approximately perpendicular to the direction of a signal magnetic field and being practically the same with each other, a soft magnetic film formed on the same surface with this hard magnetic film pair 23, 23 and arranged between this hard magnetic film pair 23, 23 so as to touch or be close to each other, and a signal magnetic field detecting film 21 laminated on the main surface of the soft magnetic film 22. This magnetic sensor is utilized as an MR head for a magnetic reproducing head etc. A magnetic recording and reproducing head by the use of this reproducing head has a reproducing head and a pair of, upper and lower, magnetic pole layers arranged with a recording gap between, and is provided with a recording head having a recording track width equal to or narrower than the reproducing track width of the reproducing head.
