Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing 1,3-bis(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dimethyl-adamantane compound as a novel bisphenol compound which can be used as a raw material of various kinds of resins having excellent heat resistance, optical properties, and mechanical strength properties, and which has an adamantane skeleton; and also addresses the problem of providing a polycarbonate resin and a resin composition which are characterized by having excellent heat resistance and high surface hardness. The abovementioned problems are solved by a 1,3-bis(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dimethyl-adamantane compound, a method for preparing the same, and a novel aromatic polycarbonate resin characterized by including a structural unit expressed by formula (1).
