Abstract:

Compounds having the following structure which are provided to provide glyco-steroid compounds having a potent anti-inflammatory effect and little side effects. The above compounds are easily metabolizable steroid compounds substituted at the carbon atom at the 21-position by a substituent -X-(saccharide residue)-Y-CZ-R: wherein X represents -O-, -S- or -NH-; Y represents -O-, -S- or -NH-; Z represents =O or =S; and R represents a bulky functional group excluding a phenyl group.
