Abstract:
6-Substituted-4,5-epoxy-6-hydroxy-2-cyclohexen-1-one derivatives represented by the general formula (I), wherein R?1¿ represents optionally substituted lower alkyl, optionally substituted lower aryl or optionally substituted aralkyl. These compounds are usable as useful intermediates in producing scyphostatin which remarkably inhibits neutral sphingomyelinase at a low concentration and thus is expected as useful as remedies for inflammatory, immunological and nervous diseases.
