Abstract:
The present invention relates to an abacus. The abacus according to the present invention comprises: an abacus frame with an internal space; an upper bead which reciprocates to add/subtract a value of 5; four lower beads which reciprocate to add/subtract a value of 1; decks for defining the movement range of the upper bead and the lower beads; a display slider which is connected to each of the lower beads to reciprocate along with the movement of the lower beads, and which has a first display unit for displaying, in a row, a first numeral from among the numerals 1 to 4 and a second numeral obtained by adding a value of 5 to the first numeral; an exposing slider which is connected to the upper bead to reciprocate along with the movement of the upper bead, and which has an open/shut window that reciprocates to expose the first numeral or the second numeral displayed on the first display unit; and a second display unit arranged at the bottom of the abacus frame to display 0 and the 5 numeral, wherein either the 0 or the 5 numeral is exposed through the open/shut window in accordance with the movement of the exposing slider. Thus, the present invention provides an abacus which accurately displays numerical values in accordance with the placement of beads, and improves the ability of users to recognize numerical values in accordance with the placement of beads.
