Abstract:
Method and device for producing an abrasion resistant ring for a piston for an engine for forming a cooling path in a ring groove and adjacent to the ring groove by being cast in the vicinity of a head portion of a piston for an engine. The abrasion resistant ring for a piston is constituted by a thin sheet-like ring forming body (10) and a ring main body comprising an inner circumferential surface and a piston ring groove. The method for producing the thin sheet-like ring forming body comprises the steps of mounting a thin sheet-like ring forming body comprises the steps of mounting a thin sheet-like ring on a forming die (2) in such a manner as to cover a forming groove, forming a circular flange portion (10a) on a thin sheet-like ring by making a floating ring (4) movable radially by releasing a core clamping member from a tapered portion, and pressing a forming roll (5) against the thin sheet-like ring while rotating the forming die, performing turning by pressing a cutting tool against the outer circumferential portion of the circular flange portion in a state in which the floating ring is centred and fixed so as to be aligned with the axis of the forming die when the core clamping member is brought into engagement with the tapered portion, and removing burrs adhering to the circular flange portion by pressing a deburring tool against the outer circumferential portion of the circular flange portion in a state in which the floating ring is fixed in the similar fashion.
