Abstract:
An absolute optical encoder comprises: a light source; a code disc having a rotary angle detecting track and a light intensity monitoring track that are concentrically arranged; a first optical receiver to receive light that is generated by the light source and passes through the rotary angle detecting track; a second optical receiver to receive light that is generated by the light source and passes through the light intensity monitoring track; and a processing unit that finds the number of rotations of the code disc by processing signals corresponding to the light received by the first optical receiver using signals corresponding to the light received by the second optical receiver as a reference. The rotary angle detecting track is disposed with alternately repeating first light-blocking portions and first light-transmitting portions, the light intensity monitoring track is disposed with alternately repeating second light-blocking portions and second light-transmitting portions, and manufacturing variability in the first light-blocking portions mutually corresponds to manufacturing variability in the second light-blocking portions.
