Abstract:
This acetal compound has structural units represented by general formula (1) or represented by general formula (2) [R1: hydrogen atom or methyl group; R2 and R3: hydrogen atom, alkyl group or aryl group (R2 and R3 may be linked together to form a ring)]. An acetal polymer compound and monomers thereof are provided, said acetal polymer compound being derived from plant resources, being transparent and easily decomposable, having a comparatively high glass transition temperature, and exhibiting changes in hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity associated with decomposition, and changes in solubility with respect to water-based solutions.
