Provided is an acoustic system that is for a user who uses a seat in an aircraft, an automobile, and the like, and that reproduces a sound that is not audible to a nearby user, without using earphones or headphones. This acoustic system includes: a directivity control device including at least one directivity control part for, by executing predetermined signal processing, generating a first processed acoustic signal from a first acoustic signal and generating a second processed acoustic signal from a second acoustic signal having a phase opposite to the phase of the first acoustic signal; and a loudspeaker system including at least one loudspeaker unit pair composed of a positive loudspeaker unit for emitting a sound based on the first processed acoustic signal and a negative loudspeaker unit for emitting a sound based on the second processed acoustic signal. The signal processing executed by the directivity control part is such that the sound emitted from the positive loudspeaker unit and the sound emitted from the negative loudspeaker unit are audible in a region in which audibility should be attained and which is in the vicinity of the loudspeaker unit pair, but are not audible in a region in which audibility should not be attained.
