Title:
ACRYLATE COPOLYMERS FOR REDUCING SCALE FORMATION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2022/050276
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of copolymers of acrylic acid and C1-C3 alkyl acrylates with an Mw of from 5200 to 20000 g/mol, calculated as its sodium salt, for reducing the formation of inorganic scale in water-bearing systems. The acrylate content in the copolymer is from 3 to 50 mol-%, and at least 50 mol-% of the polymerized C1-C3 alkyl acrylate units are polymerized units of a C2-C3 alkyl acrylate. The invention also relates to a method for reducing the formation of inorganic scale in a water-bearing system comprising adding such a copolymer to the water contained in the water bearing system.
